Good hotel for family with young children.

My husband and I visited Boston about 10 years ago and always said we'd be back. We're planing a trip back April 2013 but this time we'll be visiting with a 7yr old, 5 yr old and 4 yr old so it will be a different type of holiday!!

Can anyone recommend a good hotel in the city centre that would be suitable for a young family?

Thanks

L.

You should search for hotels that will allow you to have 5 in one room. That will narrow your choices. I think hotels in Back Bay or near Quincy Market/Downtown are good locations since you can easily return to the room to rest between sightseeing stops.

Be aware that the Boston Marathon is April 15 next year. Rooms will be scarce that weekend and higher-priced. It's a fun time to be here but you would need to make reservations early.

I really like the Marriott Residence Inns when we travel with our kid because you can get a separate bedroom and all rooms come with a kitchenette, which is great when you have kids. They also have a pool and free breakfast. There is a Residence Inn in Kendall Square, which is on the Red Line (subway) and a good location.

Not many hotels allow 3 children and two adults in a room. Boston doesn't have a lot of larger suite-style hotels. You may want to look into hotels that can provide adjoining rooms and just prop the door ajar between them.

You might also look into a vacation apartment rentals (vrbo.com, for example). That may be the best bet for your large family.

Marriott Long Wharf might be a good option with harbour views, a pool and right next door to Aquarium, Imex theatre etc.

The Marriott Long Wharf is not a Residence Inn. It's a "regular" Marriott hotel.

There is a Residence Inn just "over the bridge" in Charlestown on Tudor Wharf. It's right along the Freedom Trail, near the USS Constitution and the Inner Harbor Ferry.
