Boston to the Cape Cod canal is about a 45 minute to one hour drive depending on traffic. Add another 45 mins to an hour depending on traffic to get to the tip of Cape Cod which is Provincetown. Bay State Cruise lines offers high speed ferry service from Boston's Long Wharf to Provincetown.

To add to Spike's post... from the canal, it's about another hour or so (more in traffic, or on the scenic route 6A) to the tip of the Cape... Provincetown.

In addition to the high speed ferry, there are charters from Boston that range from small private boats and yachts to "tall ships" that put together larger groups. Here's asample website I found by using Google... http://www.libertyfleet.com/special/index.htm
