Transportation from the airport after 10:30 P.M.

Hi,

My sister and I will be traveling to Boston 9/2/05 for 4 days from the west coast. Our flight is scheduled to arrive in Boston at 10:30 p.m. We are staying in Brookline, on Beacon Street, and we were wondering what we should do for transportation...will a cab be outrageous? Should we take the T? Any advice is helpful, we have been to Boston before, and are somewhat familiar with the T system. Thanks!

The "C" branch of the Green Line runs out Beacon St. If your luggage is "manageable", the "T" would be your best bet, but if you anticipate struggling with luggage, I suggest you take one of the airport limousine services.

There are no elevators at Government Center, which is where you will connect beween the Blue and Green Lines. Also, the Green Line trains are not level to the platforms... there are 3 steps up on most trains.

Hi,

A cab to brookline from the airport will probably run you about $30-$35 with tip. It's certainly more convenient and it will be much faster at that time of night, than taking the T. However, if you are comfortable with the T, and don't mind trading the time for money savings, the T will work just fine.

Thanks! The last time we were in Boston, we were meeting people with a car, and they picked us up from the airport. We are totally comfortable taking the T, but does can you take it from the airport, or do you need to transportation to a station?

On the T, you can choose from two routes from the airport, now. One is the long-existing airport shuttle (free) to the Blue Line Airport T station - Inbound. Change at Government Center for the Green Line "C" train to Brookline - Outbound. Total: $1.25.

Or, the new Silver Line buses stop at all terminals. They take you directly to South Station, where you transfer to the Red Line (toward Alewife). Change at Park Street to the Green Line "C" to Brookline. Total: $1.25.

The T doesn't stop until a little past midnight (nominally 12:20am) when the last trains leave from the ends of their lines. As you know, the T is quite safe.
