If you had one afternoon in Boston, what would you want to see?

Take the Freedom Trail walk with a guide from the Freedom trail Foundation. It starts at the Visitor's Center on Boston Common. The walk will end at Faneuil Hall where you can shop or walk into the North End.

The Freedom Trail is good, or a Duck tour, and then take a walk down Newbury st. and stop at an outdoor cafe for dinner.

Quincy Market and if you like shopping Filene's Basement. A stroll up Newbury is good and I agree with the duck tour - you get to see the city and take a ride down the Charles -

Have fun - you'll want to come back for more.

If the weather is hot, a harbor cruise, Quincy Market and the North End.

If the weather isn't so nice, I'd skip the harbor cruise and take a trolley tour (you can can get on and off all day at places that interest you)

I'd suggest a RedSox game at Fenway Park. Then take a leisurely stroll back down Boylston/Newbury Street, thru the Public Garden and Boston Common, down Washington Street and then over to Faneuil Hall to stroll the marketplace and grab some food. Screw the Duck and Trolley tours. Tacky. Boston is very walkable from end to end. 45 minutes maybe from Kenmore Square to Faneuil Hall??
