Young couple 4-5 days in Boston. Cape? Nantucket? Vineyard?

Hi,

My boyfriend lives in Boston and I have traveled there several times. I have been to Faneuil Hall, the Aquarium, Duck Boats, Prudential Mall, Boston Common.... but I wanted to find out some other tourist things that I have been missing.

We want to make it a romantic trip this time. We were thinking of also going to the Cape, Martha's Vineyard, or Nantucket. Any advice? Which is the best one to visit and the most fun?

We both like cultural stuff so I want to go to the Elizabeth Stuart Gardens. Any other ideas?

THANKS!!

Is it possible that "Elizabeth Stuart Gardens" is some weird and wacky transliteration of the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum?? Otherwise, I'm really stuck trying to figure out what place you're talking about.

Given that, I'm a little afraid to suggest some other "cultural" stuff, but I will dare... Stroll Beacon Hill, Newbury Street, and the Waterfront. Visit the Museum of Fine Art. Go to Harvard Square and walk through Harvard Yard, The Kennedy Library, Aquarium, Harvard Museums, the Insitute of Contemporary Art.

Enough to get you started........................

There may be a garden but it's actually a museum/art gallery.

If you're truly looking for "gardens" try the Boston Public Garden, which separates Back Bay from Beacon Hill, or head out to Jamaica Plain and see the Arnold Arboretum.

Nantucket is my favorite spot. For some reason, I've always had the most fun there. You could fly over from Boston or Hyannis. Or take the fast or slow ferry from Hyannis. The slow ferry is 2 hours and 15 minutes. The Vineyard is great for a number of reasons--least of which is its' accessibility. You can do the Vineyard in a day trip with no problem. The slow ferry only takes 35 minutes. Head to

steamshipauthority.com for ferry info, and cruise the Nantucket, MV forums for more advice as well.

Hi,

For "Culcha", in addition to the standards (MFA, Gardner museum), I'd also suggest the Fogg Art Museum at Harvard, as well as the Harvard Natural History museum, which is excellent.

As for gardens, the Garden-in-the-Woods in Framingham is an excellent choice. Also, the Arnold Arboretum in Roslindale is very pretty and fun to walk around.

Then, as far as romantic getaways, I do like Nantucket over the Vineyard, but I prefer Block Island over either one, especially for a romantic trip. It's quiet, peaceful and beautiful. There's a beautiful beach, and you can rent bicycles and ride around the island. It's not usually crowded, and there are plenty of secluded places for a romantic afternoon picnic, for example. In the one town on island, there' s a bunch of the old-fashioned Victorian resort hotels, the kind with a large front porch lined with Adirondack Chairs where you can sit outside and enjoy the evenings.

It's only a 1 hour ferry ride away from Pt. Judith RI, which is itself about 1.5 hours from Boston.
