Boston to Yale to Princeton, please help!

Dear experts, some much needed advice please!

I need to get to Yale Uni (New Haven I think) for 10:00am from Boston on Sunday the 3rd of June, and then travel to Princeton on the same day. Is this advisable by train, or is flying better?

Is there a collective train travel website like www.thetrainline.com that we have here in the UK?

Many many thanks!!

I think that should be doable by rail, but I don't know how close the train comes to princeton. The trains are run by Amtrak, so you should be able to look up the schedules. Check amtrak.com.

Yale is only about 2.5 hours from Boston and I would guess that Princeton is about 4 hours from Yale.

Yes, count on about 2.5 hours to New Haven, and then you'll probably have to catch a taxi to the school. From there, it's back on the train to Penn Station in NYC, switch trains and out to Princeton. It's 1hr. 35 min to Penn Station and then another 50 min out to Princeton.

Wow! That's a lot in one day! Check the Amtrak schedule carefully to see whether their train times mesh with your schedule.

Thank you so much for your replies, apparently you can take a train directly to Trenton from New Haven, which is near Princeton?

Hi Trip,

Here is the information from Princeton's website:

The University is easily accessible by train, which runs along the Northeast Corridor line and also stops at the Newark airport. Both Amtrak and New Jersey Transit trains stop at Princeton Junction, and the south end of campus is a five-minute connecting train ride away.

So, you CAN take Amtrak from New Haven to Princeton Junction. You will have to check the train schedule though. It might not be so easy to do on a Sunday, when the trains run less frequently.
