Train from Boston to NYC

Hi,

I will be travelling from Boston to NYV in mid October and was wondering about the train.

Can I book the tickets in advance? I am heading up to the white mountains and then coming back to Boston to drop the car off before heading down to NYC so want the trip to be as smooth as possible and not have to worry about getting tickets.

Thanks in advance.

Amtrak is the train and booking more than 2 weeks in advance can get the fare as low as $49/person each way. The longer you wait the more you pay.

Make sure not to book the Acela as it is more expensive. You want the Northeast Regional for the best fares.

Thanks everyone!

Do you book direct on Amtrak website?

Yes, definitely book in advance as prices can rise dramatically as you get closer to the travel date. The Acela is a little faster and little nicer, but probably not worth the extra money.
