fly fishing

We will be staying in Asheville over Thanksgiving weekend and wonder if there is anywhere close by to do some fly fishing?

Dupont State Park is probably 40 minutes away. Great hiking, waterfalls, and good fly-fishing spots.

Davidson River near Brevard is maybe 30 minutes away. It was named 1 of the best 100 trout streams in the United States. Delayed harvest streams will be easier to catch stocked trout. For them try the Green River near Lake Lure or the North Mills River near Brevard.

Davidson River. Beautiful. Check out the fish hatchery. Fish there on either side of the bridge for some real challenging fishing. We call it the "Petting Zoo!" ;) Amazing fish there! The area is well stocked and supported from the local Trout Unlimited. Go to Curtis Wright Outfitters and pick up some flies and to get some more specifics about fishing holes. Have a good time!

Hunter Banks near downtown can set you up with all the great hidden local spots that I won't mention on this forum.

Another vote for the Davidson river and Hunter Banks. I had one of my best days there, on Thanksgiving weekend no less.
