Family Trip to Asheville for Christmas holiday

We are taking a family vacation during the Christmas holiday to Asheville NC. Our kids are 2, 5, and 7. They would love to play in the snow, but I was reading that the chances are slim but there is hope to see snow at the ski lodges. Any recommendations on Ski Lodges? My son would also love to go zip lining any recommendations for a zip lining facility that has kid zip lining courses? Any other helpful recommendations would be great ( places to stay that won't break the bank, best places to eat, etc) We will be staying for about a week. Thanks!

Folks give high marks to Navitat for zip lining. Personally I’d rather do that when it’s warm but I think most do operate all year long.

For snow tubing check out Cataloochee (http://cataloochee.com/planning/tube-world/), Wolf Ridge ( http://www.skiwolfridgenc.com/tube_run.php ), and Moonsine Mountain (http://www.moonshinemountain.com/). A little further afield is Hawksnest (https://hawksnesttubing.com/) which offers both ziplining and snow tubing.

All will make snow as long as overnight lows are below freezing. It can occasionally happen that we get a really warm December and they can’t make snow but that’s not the norm.

Better chances of snow in the high country - Boone. Beech Mountain...points north of Asheville.

I agree with another poster, for snow and ziplining you might want to look more toward the Boone/Blowing Rock area. There you can ski/board at App Ski Mtn (more for beginners), Sugar Mtn, or Beech Mtn. Sugar and Beech are both larger than App and would be my choice. Hawknest has snow tubing and a zip line.
