Transport around Tyson's

Could anyone update the traffic situation around Tyson's mall. Is there any Metro connection from that area to both DC and Dulles Airpport or either of them? Thanks.

1. Re: Transport around Tyson's

The traffic situation around Tyson's generally (both the malls and the office areas nearby) remains poor, as there continues to be significant construction.

Metro rail to Tyson's is not complete, and won't be complete until next year. Rail to the airport is at least three years behind that.

There are many Metro buses that run through the Tyson's area and connect up with Metro rail at either the Dunn Loring or West Falls Church stations -- you can find a map at http://www.wmata.com/pdfs/bus/VA.pdf but as someone who has lived here all my life I still find their bus maps and numbering system next to impossible to use. The buses are also likely to get stuck in the same traffic personal cars do.

There is one Metro bus line to Dulles, the 5A. Some, but not all, of its runs during the day stop at the Westpark transit lot at the north end of Tyson's Corner, which is not particularly close to the mall. The schedule for that bus is here: www.wmata.com/bus/timetables/dc/05a.pdf

At least until next year Tyson's Corner will remain a part of our region to be avoided unless it can't be helped.
