Places to stay in Moab

Myself and 2 friends want to stay for a week in Moab to do some hiking and biking the first week in October. Any suggestions on where to stay?

Moab has something for every style and budget. What's yours? Have you even looked at hotel links for Moab?

Rather than have us lob names at you, how about if you look at places and ask specific questions bout the ones that seem appealing.

We like River Canyon Lodge, just a half block off Main St. Clean, inexpensive, convenient. Walking distance to shops and restaurants.

Have fun.

If you don't mind being a few miles drive from downtown, another suggestion would be one of the many vacation rental condos. With 6 days and 3 of you splitting the rental, it's a less expensive option with all the benefits of a home, kitchen, garage for bikes, community pool, hot tub, etc.

The Spanish Trails area, a bit south of town, has many nice units you can find on VRBO that offer 3 bdrms, 2 baths, patios with BBQ and beautiful views of the Moab Rim to the West and Manti-La-Sal to the East, for far less than 3 motel rooms would cost.

We're partial to the Red Cliffs Lodge on Hwy 128, but it's pricey and 11 miles out of town. For 6 days this Spring we really enjoyed our choice of a Spanish Trail condo. We were only minutes from the grocery store and downtown. Great to wake up to a kitchen and convenience for packing the daytime cooler for tailgate lunches in the parks.

October is great there. Have fun.

Moab is one of those places which has something for everyone. Some lodging can be a bit pricey, others are your mom and pop motels offering great hospitality, plus everything in between.

We've stayed at the Sleep Inn in the past and felt it was perfect for those looking for a clean and moderately priced place to stay. Randi and Tumbleweed made some excellent suggestions as well. I would suggest taking a look at the lodging selections here on Tripadvisor to see if any of these three suggestions work or to perhaps find something else that jumps out at you.

For places to stay we love this condo. Vrbo.com/323283. Loads of room and costs about the same as staying in the Hampton Inn. 3 bedrooms, two bathrooms, a community pool and if you want to cook they have everything you could need including a gas bbq. We find it handy for breakfast and the ability to pack a lunch. Also a washer/dryer comes in handy with our boys when they are out biking all day long! The owners are very easy to work with.
