Hiking guidebook suggestions?

We are planning to spend two weeks in late May/early June visiting 3 nights Zion, 2 nights North Rim Grand Canyon, 1 night Bryce, 2 nights Escalante, 4 nights Moab.

Our focus is hiking and great sights. There are many guidebooks, but does anyone have suggestions for a couple books that might steer us to the best hiking options? We are not going backpacking, but will hike anything from .5 hrs. to about 9 hours. Non technical hiking only.

Not a guidebook but climb-utah.com is a fantastic website outlining many hikes in Utah with great detail. Basic site is free with pay service for additional details. Worth checking out.

Have fun.

Here's a few good ones that cover some of the area you're going:

Falcon Guide- Hiking Canyonlands and Arches National Parks

Falcon Guide- Hiking Grand Staircase-Escalante & the Glen Canyon Region

(both are clearly written with maps, and fairly user friendly)

Then there's all sorts of detailed guidebooks by Michael Kelsey:

Hiking and Exploring Utah's Henry Mountains and Robbers Roost

Hiking and Exploring the Paria River

Hiking and Exploring Utah's San Rafael Swell

Canyon Hiking Guide to the Colorado Plateau

(Kelsey writes in great detail, not all that well, but has great insight into where he's been. Maps are hand drawn, but good.)

This is much more than you need--but I'd consider getting the two Falcon Guides, and then look online for good hiking opps for Zion and the North Rim.

The Kelsey books are too much for what you need, but fascinating reading nonetheless...

From Here to Wow -Utah is a fantastic book as is Photographing the American Southwest.

I have over 10 hiking books dedicated to Southern Utah and these are my faves.
