Is CityPass worth it?

Hubby and I going to be in San Francisco for 4 full days and 5 nights. Taking a Dylan Tour first day and want to do Alcatraz and Sausalito as definites and have researched. Also will be using public transportation and staying at the waterfront. Is it worth it to buy the CityPass with the Alcatraz exchange? Or better to buy a Muni Pass and an Alcatraz ticket separate?

It's basically a do the math. Subtract the cost of the MUNI Passport from the cost of the Citypass & compare that to the separate admission costs of the things you'll do that are covered by the Citypass.

My rule of thumb is if you do about 1/2 of the Citypass things you about breakeven; more than that & you're saving money, do them all & the savings can be significant.

That's my $.02,

Are you planning to do

California Academy of Sciences

Aquarium of the Bay OR Monterey Bay Aquarium

de Young Museum OR Exploratorium

if so then yes if not, just doing Alcatraz and the muni passport may not be worth the cost

Also if you are here for 4 days and doing Dylans for one then perhaps a 3 day MUNI passport would be enough and you can get them now on your MUNI app instead of buying a paper copy - that is if Dylans is day 1 or day4 and not in the middle and on the day you don't have a pass you can just get a Muni single ride ticket
