Accommodation - Fishermans Wharf

We are in the process of planning our trip to US next year which included a 3 days stay in San Francisco. The accommodation seems to be booked out or extremely expensive at this time being the 19th to 22nd September. Would like to know if there is an event happening at that time? or is the accommodation is always between $500-700 per night? If this is the case, we may change our plans.

How far in advance are you looking? You say "next year". What time of the year? What kinds of booking agents are you using?

It is true that San Francisco hotel prices spike during the time when large conventions are taking up most of the rooms. but there are areas of the city where you can stay that the conventioneers do not.

Please let us know your dates, your budget, and how many people, and we may be able to recommend reasonable hotels.

Oracle OpenWorld Sept 18-22, 2016. Estimated 60,000 attendees. Yes, sixty thousand.

Can you change your itinerary? Maybe choose a budget hotel (read the Top Questions on the right)?

You were very smart to check accommodation prices before locking in your dates.

So many people do not do that and come to this forum in a panic and/or disappointed.

Try the Cow Hollow Inn and its sister properties, the Coventry, Lombard, Chelsea....and Columbus Motor Inn. The first three are in the Marina district, which has excellent transportation to the center the the wharf area. the last one is within walking distance of Fisherman'a Wharf.

There is no advantage, by the way to the Fisherman's Wharf location.

You will have much better luck if you contact the hotels directly, not on a third party booking site. Go to the hotel's own websites.

You might also try some smaller, boutique hotels, which are not usually impacted by conventioneers. However, you are a year out, and the hotels may not be releasing rooms or room rates this early.

Our top questions have the convention calendar link please refer to that and typically rooms are sold rep days in advance so you may be a bit early

Puter,

Per the OP's request, it appears that the dates are:

<<being the 19th to 22nd September>>

So mid-late Sept, 2016.
