Layover at San Francisco airport for 13 Hours

Any suggestions for a mom with two little girls (4 and 7-year old) who arrives SFO at 9 AM and leave at 11 PM. We will fly in from 12-hour international flight, so I expect everybody to be a bit tired already, but staying at SFO for 13+ hours is going to make things worse. I thought about checking in a hotel room (that may be one serious option), any other suggestions?

Welcome ruby. On a non mobile web browser, check the right for Top Questions. There is one about what to do on a layover. But with 2 little ones after a 12 hr flight, going to a hotel might not be a bad idea. When is this? Maybe even one with a pool for them after a quick nap. Where are you going at 9p and how long is that flight?

If you want to do something, maybe a quick BART ride to town to ride cable car and Union Square area. But you have to worry about the luggage. Just depends on how you think the kids will do and you might not know until you get off that long haul flight.

The Westin SFO will rent a day room from 8 am to 6 pm. I think that's the best option. It's 5 minutes from the airport:
