Accomodation required

Hi! we are a family of three and would like to spend about 11 days in San Francisco. Our budget is about $ 150 per day including parking. We are happy even with a service apartment in a good and convenient locality.

Even without knowng when you are travelling, $150 a night including parking is very low.

Hotel parking is regularly $40 to $50 per night. So, $100 for a nice hotel room will be a huge challenge.

Have a look at budget hotels under "TQ's" in the right hand column.

You should be able to find something along Lombard.

I would suggest you first post your overall itinerary as most people tend to spend a few days in each place they are visiting. 3-5 days or less and then move to the next city or area ?

A car is not advised in SF. As Dat mentioned, the top questions have info on budget hotels or you can rent a vacation rental on airbnb or flipkey . The areas to rent are mentioned in the top questions. But one should post the exact address here before renting

Most of our residential neighborhoods have some sort of parking control which limits long-term street parking to those with residential stickers. These stickers are not tranferrable, so many holiday rentals will be without parking (unless they have their own garage). As belomiser says above, we really don't recommend having a car in the city (unless there are specific circumstances which make public transit impractical for you).

For that sort of money you should consider staying in the Marina / Cow Hollow area. It's a good location with quite a few reasonably priced motels with free parking.

It's a pleasant, safe area, with great shopping & eat streets in nearby Union & Chestnut Streets, plus there's a Safeway by the Marina - very handy. Public transport to the city and attractions is easy, quick and cheap - better than driving in SF, although the car will be handy if you're looking to visit places out-of-town, like Sausalito, Muir Woods etc.

We stayed at the Capri Motel (www.motelcaprisfo.com) - it's not the flashest, but it's but clean and comfy and reasonably priced. And unlike most motels in the area, it's NOT on busy Lombard Street - it's on the (much quieter) corner of Greenwich & Buchanan. It's a very nice, non-touristy area - you'll feel like a local.

Another budget motel in the Marina area that has some units with small kitchens is the Marina Motel: http://www.marinamotel.com/
