7 days in SF Area - Best itinerary?

My wife and I will be spending 7 day in SF in October. Want to know the best way to see all the SF sites? Tours or do it yourself? When to get Alcatraz tickets and is better to get night or day tour? Any restaurant and entertainment suggestions? Want to do a day in Napa and a day in Monterrey/Carmel too?

In San Francisco, many people do the Go Cars. We see them everywhere and people seem to enjoy seeing a lot of the city in a day, then you can make note of it and go back to view closer if you want, www.sanfranciscotours.us/…

Remember that trolleys don't go everywhere, but there is plenty of public transportation. I would recommend seeing pier 39 and eating at Boudins in Fisherman's wharf with a view of the water (our famous sourdough bread is here too)

The museums in Golden Gate Park are wonderful too depending on if you like museums...Academy of Sciences http://www.calacademy.org/ has a pretty great rainforest area.

You can also do Napa for sure. There are many wine tour buses so you can partake in all the wine without worrying about driving. But we go to Sonoma and Napa on weekends and it's an easy 45 minute drive to Sonoma from SF. If you have any ideas of what you find fun to do, we can also help more!

I wonder how long the PP has lived in SF ... if even they do.

1) They are not called "trolleys," the are cable cars. Trolleys are buses connected to an electric overhead wire.

2) Pier 39? Boudin's? Fisherman's Wharf? Next will be the clam chowder in a bread bowl.

Have you perused the TOP questions ? There is a 3 day itinerary which can be expanded or cover more in depth, list do what to see and do that can be added to that 3 day list , maps of the attractions and their location in the city, trip reports from visitors ,

Most would read that , come up with a plan and get feedback.

Yes beach blanket is a great SF tradition. There are clubs, bars, theatre, music venues with headliners, possible sporting events based on the playoffs in Oakland ( check playoff schedule and then wins based on the first round) dinner cruises in the bay, night bus tours,

Www.sfgate.com/events can help you look at what is going on when you are here

Did WhiteDahlia not answer your BBB question earlier. Not sure why you are asking us the same question again. Have you read reviews of beach blanket ? If something makes you ask the same question again, I would say skip it.
