Tours to Point Reyes ?

Being a big fan of the original film "the fog" I just have to visit Point Reyes during my trip over in May..it looks stunning. And its not that far either.

Staying in San Francisco I do not really want to drive however public transport does not seem to really exist to that area.

Does anybody know of any tours that go to point reyes or of any reasonable private guides that would take us ?

Welcome any suggestions.

Many Thanks

You can google point Reyes tours from SF and there is on called California Nature Tours. Search them on TA for reviews or check other sites for reviews. Don't expect a private tour to be cheap unless you are 4 or more people

I'm not aware of any tours to Point Reyes and I doubt a private guide will be particularly reasonable (private walking tours are $200+).

I realize you say you don't want to drive but in this case I think it's the best way to go. And the least expensive.

It's quite a nice drive up to Point Reyes. However, while it may not look far on the map the roads are country ones, not freeways. And when you enter Point Reyes, that's just the beginning. If you go start early, especially if you want to do any hiking.

I went up last summer, left the city at 9AM and got back at 5PM and we barely scraped the surface, although we did stop for lunch. If you want more time, taking a picnic might be a good idea.

Here's a tour company that offers Point Reyes tours:

I'm not sure it would work for you and the itinerary looks overly optimistic for doing everything they describe but you could call them and inquire.
