San Francisco weather in May?

Hi, my husband and I are looking at coming to San Francisco in mid May this year, our 2nd trip as our first was our honeymoon in June 2007 and we had such a fantastic time we've been wanting to come back ever since! However on our honeymoon we had fantastic sunny days and warm weather, and we are not sure how warm or what sort of weather to expect in mid May? can anyone advise please?

Many thanks

"Typical" in mid-May will be cool at night, likely sunny during the day. Daytime temps in the 60s, maybe 70s.

But "typical" and what it may really be like when you're here is anyone's guess. Keep an eye on the local weather outlets 5-7 days before you arrive. www.cbs5.com is one.

You should be good in May. It's usually past the rainy season, and the fog has yet to build up to its summertime levels. We often have a mini "hot spell" at some point during May (only a few days though). I always remember, while growing up here, it being beautiful, right up to getting out for summer vacations in school. Then, in came the fog for much of the summer.

Agreed with the other two posters. But still -- be sure to bright a light jacket or sweater for night. The thing with SF fog is that it can roll in when you least expect it. Layering is key in San Francisco!
