Cable car from Fisherman's Wharf area

I don't have a lot of time to do things but would like to take the kids for a cable car ride. We are staying in Fisherman's Wharf area. More that likely would do it on a Wednesday morning after breakfast. Which line heads out from FW and where would you suggest I go and return? Thanks!

Catch the Powel-Mason cable car at Bay and Taylor. It will take you just outside the western border of Chinatown, up and over Nob Hill, past Union Square to Powell and Market.

Ot you can take the f-line electric trolley to Market and Powell, you get a good view of the embarcadaro, Coit Tower and more. Hop off there and the hop on the Cable Car back to Fisherman's wharf. Hop on the Powell-Hyde car returning as it goes pass the top of Lombard street and lets you off by the cannery. It is an easy walk back to fishermans wharf.

You could also take the cable car from Taylor street to Chinatown and walk throught Chinatown down to Market & Powell and ride back on the Powell-Hyde.

If you're on the west side of Fisherman's Wharf (closer to Ghiradelli Square), take the Powell-Hyde Street Line. If you're on the east side of Fisherman's Wharf (closer to Pier 39), take the Powell-Mason Line. Both end at the same location, Powell and Market Streets. They both go next to Chinatown and Union Square. If you like, you can jump off at Chinatown, walk south through Union Square, and end up at Powell and Market. My suggestion to get back is to take the F-Line Historic Streetcar towards the Ferry Building and the Wharf. It'll go to the Ferry Building, go along the waterfront, and back to Fisherman's Wharf. You can also do the opposite and take the F-Line from the Wharf to Powell Street, and take any of the cable cars from there.
