Orchard hotel/ Union Street Inn/ Petite Auberge

I'm just wondering which hotel has the better location and amenities. This is for a couple in their 50's who want to have easy access to the sites. both prefer "charming" hotels to very modern ones.

Union Street Inn is a great hotel. Moderate price, four and a half stars. It's located near Lombard Street in a nice area and I think they would enjoy it. However, I can't help but thing that they might also enjoy the Edward Inn II http://www.edwardii.com/ Which is very quaint and charming.

Thanks! I checked out the site - very nice. However it's now one more to add to the list. Decisions, decisions...

Orchard Hotel is quite nice. Though since they have been quite popular, their rates have shot right up! It has been my hotel of choice, given they have great amenities, restaurant seems to change owners all the time. I also like the Chancellor Hotel on Powell St because it is so close to the Union Square. I find it very charming.

We just returned from the Orchard and loved it.

It's got a European Boutique Hotel feels.

The rooms are quite large and comfy. The bathroom

is exstremely comfortable. This hotel get a wheel heeled

understated crowd. A nice touch is the daily continental

breakfast with jazz music and the SF Chronicle.

Good Luck!!!

I'd book again tomorrow!!!

How much is the Orchard/night on the weekend? The Union Street Inn would give us a room on a Sat. night for $149/night and the Kensington was $129/night. I found that to be very reasonable. :)

I'm not sure what the rate is now. Look at it on the

hotel search. Our best price came from Hotels.com.

The search engine will do Expedia too.

I've seen some nice things on the board about about the

Chancellar too.
