Hotels - where to stay in San Francisco ?

My husband and I are looking at visiting San Francisco in April 2019. We want to see most of the tourist sites, so would like to be pretty central to things. Our budget per night would be around $200USD a night and would like a safe neighbourhood where we could walk to dinner at night.

Read the 'top question' about budget hotels in Union Square.

Check out the Top Questions as already suggested including ___Where to stay___.

San Francisco can be an expensive hotel city and you may have to look at increasing your budget.

My opinion is that Union Square would be best for you however your budget might dictate otherwise.

Have a look at prices for your dates and come back with hotel choices to get better informed opinions from the forum.

Your budget is tight for average and above hotels. How many nights are you planning on staying?

Note that Friday, Saturday, and Sunday are often cheaper because of lower business demand.

In any case, check the hotel rates for specific dates BEFORE you lock in the dates you will be in SF. A few days can make a big difference in how much you pay.

As Chriskuo points out, some hotels in say the Financial District have good prices for Fri-Sun, and that is close to Union Sq, and Embarcadero.

Mid-week, same hotels are much more expensive.

Best of luck,
