Not to be missed restaurants

As a first time visitor are there any restaurants we really should not miss for dinner? We are staying in Bar Harbor. Any restaurants outside of Bar Harbor but not too far also would be considered. Looking for American and seafood places only. Thanks.

Poor Boy's Gourmet, McKay's, Fathom, and Side Street Cafe in Bar Harbor. Town Hill Bistro 5 miles outside of town and then Red Sky in Southwest Harbor. Thurston's Lobster Pound in Bernard.

Curious---what constitutes "American" food? Some others: Burning Tree, Fiddler's Green, Mache Bistro. Google their menus and see if they match up with your concepts.

Not much barbeque chicken in Bar Harbor..., but lots of burgers, steaks, seafood, and pasta. If you do want to try some good barbeque while you are here, consider Mainely Meat in Town Hill, about a 10 minute drive from Bar Harbor. They also have a second location on Rt 3 across from the Pirate's Cove mini golf.
