Whale Watching Tours in Maine

We'll be staying in Bar Harbor for a few nights. Any recommended whale watching tours for September? (is Sept. a good time to do it?) If so, is Bar Harbor area a good spot for the whale watching tours, or are there better places in Maine for this?

Yesterday some friends went out on the Bar Harbor Whale Watch 8:30 tour and they had an amazing trip. They saw a whale do a full breech out of the water (very unusual) and then he was very playful following along side the boat flapping his fin and twirling in the water.

They are long trips out of Bar Harbor - about four hours. It takes about 1 1/2 hours at very high speed to get out to where the whales are. Some people don't enjoy that long of a trip and there are often many seasick passengers on board.
