What to do in Bar Harbor with four teenage sons?

My wife, four teenage sons, and I will be in Bar Harbor for three days in early June. What are some activities (land and sea) you highly recommend? We are from the Midwest (no oceans there!) and all enjoy physical activity. We are not campers.

Acadia, Acadia, and Acadia. Lots of stuff to do there, both land and sea. I think any guide book on the area would give you a full list of things to do/see.

Trenton Bridge Lobster Pound

Drive over to the quiet side of Mount Desert Island.

Whale Watching, Nature Cruises, Lobster/Seal Watching - The Bar Harbor Whale Watch Company.......http://www.whalesrus.com

Kayaking - A few great companies in town - I recommend Aquaterra http://www.aquaterra-adventures.com, National Park Sea Kayak Tours http://www.acadiakayak.com AND ALSO CHECKOUT - http://www.barharborinfo.com for other Kayaking companies under activities!!!

Hiking/Rock Climbing - There are excellent hiking trails all throughout Acadia National Park - the best place to find a hike that fits your family would be to check with a Park Ranger - you can go to the visitors center when you get in town and they will give some great info and directions. ALSO look for some Acadia Weekly's when in town - they have hikes of the week which will have and Easy-Moderate hike and a Moderate-Strenuous Hike. My favorite is Great Head which is absolutely beautiful overlooking Sand Beach and adoring ocean views throughout!! Check out the Rock Climbing School also if outdoorsy people - http://www.acadiamountainguides.com

Sailing - Either the Margaret Todd or the Black Jack - both great schooner rides - a must do!!

Hike up Beach Mountain, canoe on Eagle Pond, mountain biking opportunities, go to Cadillac Mountain to watch the sunrise or sunset. Go to Schoodic Peninsula. You will all enjoy the Park.

Look at the website acadiamagic.com. It has a lot of information on Acadia. I really recommend hiking. The above post talked about whale watching...I highly recommend that as well...just make sure you bring VERY warm clothes. Its about 45 degrees once the boat is moving at full speed. Also, if anyone gets seasick than this isnt the option for you because you will feel the "up and down" motion:).

Thunderhole is a great site (about two hours before high tide) as well as the Bass Harbor Lighthouse.

Have fun! Its a great place to bring you family.
