wanting to visit Hawaii -- two options

We are thinking about going to Hawaii in 2013 but are not sure when the better prices are for accommodations / flights -- Spring Break or Christmas - ?

First, you've posted in a subforum of the subforum for the island of Maui. You'll get more general info if you post in the main Hawai`i forum (not the Island of Hawai`i forum).

We don't get much in the way of spring-breakers here, so as long as you avoid the weeks around Easter you're probably better off then than at Christmas. Either way, you need to act pretty fast. Spring is right around the corner, and people book Xmas a year ahead.

You need to do some reading and choose your island(s). (Figure about a week per island.) On the main Hawai`i forum, look at the Top Questions. Read the Summary of Each Island. A good, overall guidebook is Hawai`i for Dummies.

When you say spring break, what dates are you talking about? Spring break for schools in the US are all over the calendar. Meaning, some are in March others are in April. Christmas is the most costly time to come to Hawaii and the busiest outside of the summer months.

Spring is nice but for a vacation this spring you are very late in the planning stages.

We have visited Maui both during Spring break and Christmas. Spring break definitly much cheaper in terms of flights and accommodation.

Another vote for spring break....more budget friendly, less busy and for us, we like to leave towards the end of our winter and return closer to spring. :-))). Deb

If you are serious about spring break - you better move quickly. Your planning is very late. Very. You will find availability tighter than usual - and with that comes higher prices. And it looks like you need to familiarize yourself with the Islands and your options. Why have you posted om the Kihei Forum?
