sugar cane burning

Are there any particular months when the burning of sugar cane takes place?

Thanks!

Any month and every month, AFAIK, they are burning a cane field somewhere much of the time. Pretty sure that they constantly rotate because it would just be too much to manage if they were to burn, chop & haul all acreage on the island at once. Besides, there's only the Puunene mill now, no more Paia :(

The ash generally only affects Maalaea and North Kihei anyway unless the winds are blowing more southerly than usual.

Cane burinng is usualaly at night for the most part now-a-days. It can be pretty much any time of the year. If you will be here for one or two weeks it is doubtful that cane buring will affect you, at least more than one or two nights of your visit, and then again, only if you are staying in north or central Kihei.

we spotted some cane burning while driving up Haleakala for the sunrise. It was a neat site from above.
