Kihei Restaurant Reviews

Just returned from 10 days in Kihei, thought I would post on some of the places we ate at.

Maui Tacos - good cheap Mexican food - we got there at 11:30 when it opened and there was already a lineup. Recommend take-out as it's a tiny place and gets crowded quickly.

Maui Thai - good food, good value - will spice it to your liking. We got take-out and loved it. Dinner for two ($30) also provided enough for lunch the next day.

Tommy Bahamas (Shops at Wailea) - We asked to sit on the patio and were told it was "full". Sat at the bar and watched the half-empty patio for the entire time we were there for lunch. Saw other people seated out there after us. Many empty tables remained empty. Tried the recommended Coconut Shrimp - was delicious but for $19 for six shrimp, and obvious other reasons, would not go back nor recommend it.

Cheeseburger (Shops at Wailea) - good value, good burgers, good service - loud family atmosphere.

Bada Bing! - Excellent selection of Italian food (including wonderful, fresh thin-crust pizzas) very friendly staff, reasonable prices and GREAT $2 Mai Tais at Happy Hour.

Kihei Caffe - get there early as this place is BUSY. Great food at reasonable prices. Eggs Benny or Breakfast Burrito = $7.95 each

Marco's - lovely place, excellent Italian food, very good service, however we felt overpriced ($16.95) for pasta.

Roy's (Kihei) (by Safeway) - loud family atmosphere which we didn't expect. Good service, pricey but good if you like unusual seafood dishes. Entrees were $25-$30. We had one appy and left because we couldn't find anything that appealed. Just our opinion.

Coldstone Creamery (by Safeway) - a must-try if you love ice cream - fantastic is putting it mildly. Try the dipped waffle cones. Tip the girls and they will sing for you!

Sarento's on the Beach - be sure and request a beach-side table before sunset - we didn't and sat in a booth, however still had a nice view of the sunset. Excellent service, delicious food - VERY pricey but a good place for a "splurge". Dinner for two with a (reasonable) bottle of wine and tip = $175

Thank you so much for posting that. We will be in Kihei in 14 days (but who's counting.) We have tried some of the places like Kihei Cafe and Badda Bing and agree with you on your review. Thanks for letting me know about Maui Thai. We tried Sala Thai last time, but will visit there instead. We're staying at the Mana Kai, which shares the beach and sunset with Sarento's, so will opt to bring home food and sit on our Lanai instead.

Again, thank you for the post.

By the way, I forgot to mention that we spoke to a gentleman at the pool one day who had just had lunch at Mama's Fish House.

Although we did not go there ourselves, he reported to us that the cheapest glass of wine was $16 and the Caesar salad was $36.

EEEEYOW! <cough><choke>

BTW, another for the list is Alexander's. Great, basic fish plate lunch. Cheap.

Also, Joe's - up by the tennis club in Wailea. A little pricy but very good. Nice atmosphere. Same folks as have Hailemaile General Store.

2nd vote for Alexander's--good food, good price. Also Da Kitchen--lau lau pork and mostly everything else!

How is Mulligan's in Wailea? I have reservations for Feb for Wailea nights? The menu looked okay.
