Wyndham Beach Viilas or Bali Hai?

We are visiting Kauai in July 2008. We would like to stay at one of the Wyndham time-share properties. Since Wyndam recently took over Pahio, there is very little specific resort info available in the catalog. If anyone out there can give us advice about where to stay, we would REALLY appreciate it. Beach Villas are in Lihue, Bali Hai is in Princeville. The other resorts are not available for booking yet but may be soon. (Ka Eo & Shearwater). We are traveling with our young adult children ages 21 & 18, my husband is an avid golfer, we all love the beach & snorkeling. Wyndham says they are renovating all of these properties, but if they are dumpy, I'd like to know, we will book in to a hotel and use the time-share points on another island.

My impression is that the preferred golf is on the North Shore. Princeville resorts are largely oriented toward those who wish to indulge in golf. The South Shore resorts, particularly in Poipu (though, again, the Marriott in Lihue is stunning) are the larger campuses. For those who want the absolute in luxury and want to merely stay put in a resort where you'll never run out of new places to explore and things to do, you don't do better than the Hyatt in Poipu.

The Kauai Beach Villas and Hilton next door are smaller resorts. They're perfectly fine for those who want to primarily explore the island, but also want a nice place to hang their hat (and aloha shirt) for the day.
