Tahiti Nui - website not available?

It's probably just a glitch on their website (it was working a couple of weeks ago), but is Tahiti Nui still open?

Actually the max fine is $177.5K = the max under the statute.

no sympathy. He's had plenty of notice and not gotten it done.

I understand the "fines", what I am saying is he has to repair the problem and he is looking at big bucks to fix the issue.

<<Marston acknowledged Tahiti Nui’s three large capacity cesspools’ operation, and he retained the services of a professional contractor from Wagner Engineering to design a state-approved individual wastewater system to replace the cesspools.>>

If all he is installing is a a proper leach field etc, the $175K would have made a big dent in the cost. Even an individual treatment system isn't prohibitive. They just screwed around and haven't gotten a plan in place for years and years. Hiring a contractor is hardly the same as actually meeting the codes and pushing the plans forward.

His costs are what they are. But they'd have been $175K less (or whatever he can negotiate downward) had he actually worked on the problem like his business depended on it. These cess pits are part of what makes the Hanalei River "poop river" with some of the highest bacteria counts around.

Based on the recent Hanalei Boatyard takeover, the county will seize the cesspool, put yellow tape around it and stick a cop in it 24/7 with a periscope.
