North Shore beaches closed today - 20-35 foot swells!

Aloha from Kaua'i!

I was listening to KCCR on my way to my exercise class this morning and they were reporting that all North Shore beaches are closed today - ocean swells from 20 to 35 foot are expected!

High surf as well on the West Side (15-20 ft. if I remember) - but only 2-3 feet here on the South Shore.

Yikes! Hope everyone stays out of the water today up North - I think the lifeguards will have their hands full!

That is so much fun to watch though. The surfers will be out in full force. If you can't get service at a restaurant today, now you know why!

The wrap is making Aliomanu Bay look like a washing machine too.

Take care everywhere today.

It is like a washing machine in Hanalei too. That's the really scary stuff. Don't go to Queen's Bath for sure, don't sit on the lava shelfs, just sit on a bluff or the beach far away from the shoreline and enjoy mother nature.

So I should nix my snorkeling plans for the northshore?? Just kidding folks ;)

I love looking at that one webcam - I check it out almost every day to see what is happening on the northshore and what a contrast to last week! Smart advice to listen to the surf warnings and head to the safe beaches. I am glad you locals post such good advise for all travelers . . . let's hope they pay attention! :)
