Should we buy or rent boogie boards and/or snorkel gear?

Hi Everyone,

Our family is going to Hawaii for the first time later this month. Our kids are looking forward to snorkeling and boogie boarding, among other things, and I have the following questions:

1. Is it better to purchase your own boogie boards and snorkel gear instead of renting?

2. If its better to buy, should we bring them with us? Not sure what the airline restrictions are on boards.

3. If its better to buy on the Island, any suggestions on where to buy ? We'll be staying in Waikoloa/

Thanks in advance!

Boogie Boards are not that expensive to rent or to buy in Hawaii.

I would not pay for extra luggage to ring them from your location to Hawaii & back.

Either find a site like Snorkel Bob's to rent them, or buy some inexpensive ones & donate them when you leave Hawaii.

Thanks- any ideas on how to donate them. Would want them to go to someone who may not otherwise have one. Otherwise, I thought we'd just leave them with the hotel for other guests.

We've done it both ways...this trip we rented from Snorkely Bobs...they are located at Mauna Lani Shops just a few miles up the road from Waikoloa. Good service and good gear. We'll use them again. :-)
