i am taking my 20 yr old daughter to oahu in may.my husband and i have been twice this will be her firsto time it's girls only this trip.i would like to take a little side trip over to the big island for a couple days i know that it is a big island and needs more time but this is probably all i can afford this trip.so we would confine ourselves to the east side only and fly into hilo early morning and stay 2 nights.i have always been more drawn to the hilo side when reading the travel guides and researching.
places we would like to visit
hvnp we are big nat park junkies we even have the passport book that we get stamped at all parks and monuments we visit would love to see the red lava but if we don't we would stiil enjoy the park.
would love to explore hilo some and visit the tsunami museum and lili'uokalani gardens.
maybe a drive up the hamakua coast or down to puna to the painted church.
am looking at staying at the hale hawaii kai or bay house b&b's any input here appreciated.
as far as eating out we love thai food so which do you prefer nuang mai kitchen or sombat's.also hilo bay cafe or cafe pesto my daughter is a vegetarian mostly but will eat fish and seafood.
the place we stay at on oahu the royal grove hotel is very economical so i will keep the rooms for those 2 nights so all we will have to bring is our backpacks with a couple changes of clothes and such.
mahalo for your thoughts
