Has anyone stayed at the Alpenhof Lodge?

My husband and I are planning our 1st anniversary trip to the Jackson Hole, Teton Village area and we were thinking about staying at the Alpenhof Lodge. We do not have a very large budget for our trip and the Alpenhop appears to be somewhat reasonable. Have any of you stayed there?

Also, what are the top three things we should do/see while in Jackson Hole?

My wife and I stayed there last October. We really liked it. Reminded us of hotels in Bavaria, a lot of old world charm. Every room is decorated differently. It is right in the heart of the village. They had a nice buffet breakfast every morning that was included. The scenery is breathtaking all around you, and you will pay half the price for twice the charm.

Do have breakfast or lunch at the Granary, which is located high on the bluff between the Amangani and Spring Creek Ranch, what a beautiful view of the Grand Tetons. Rooms there run upwards of $800 a night. You get the big budget view at reasonable prices.

There are several good trails around Jenny Lake. If you like hiking you are in paradise.

I would drive up to the Grand Tetons and go to Jenny Lake for scenery and wildlife. Be sure and walk around Jackson Hole- the shops and museums are great. Also eat at the Gunbarrel Restaurant- it is voted #1 by TA.

I am wondering if you have made your Jackson and if you did stay at the Alpenhof? If so can you tell me about it? We have reservations in Sept at Signal Mountain Lodge but I am thinking of changing to the Alpenhof. Thinking of changing just because it looks more comfortable and charming. We will have been in cabins in Yellowstone for 3 nights. I don't want to miss out on the scenery of Teton National Park, but I wonder after 3 nights in cabins I will be ready for a little more comfort and a little less rustic. You know what I mean? Thanks.

Would you recommend the Alpenhof for a family vacation? We are looking for a place that is not upscale but like travelintami stated we are coming from staying in Yellowstone. I'm also looking at Teton Mountain Lodge if anyone has stayed at both...my son is 12.
