Ski/ snow board on December 25 to 1/1 /2013

we plan to have ski vacation at Jackson hole on 12/25 to 1/1/2013

My husband and our boys love to ski . They usually ski at Vail Colorado ( blue and black) . But i heard the moutain is very difficult . How difficult is the blue and black trails there compare with other moutain.

I only ski 1-2 days . Is there any out door winter activity beside ski that you can recommend us to do while we stay there

How is the bus tranportation there if we have no car

How is lodging , food , restaurants ( ? good ? expensive )

AND FROM YOUR EXPERIENCE IS THERE ENOUGH SNOW AT THE END OF DECEMBER . THANK YOU

Jackson Hole is a great resort. Yes, it is a challenging mountain. It does have good beginner and intermediate skiing. But it also offers some of the toughest, gnarliest blacks you'll find.

You have your choice of staying at the resort itself or in town. It's much different than what you would be used to in Vail. Yes, you can shuttle in from town or walk to lift if you're at the resort.

In general, you should be fine on snow.

One other thought, have you considered Park City? Given your overall family interests, you might find it more attractive with diversity of skiing and non-skiing things to do. It's also a lot easier to get to.

Have fun.

Hi,

To your left, you'll see Top Questoins about Jackson, one of them addresses other activities to do in the winter, but I'll copy and paste below.

Although Jackson has a larger % of difficult runs compared to other resorts, its size allows for enough terrain for any skier. They are also putting in a new high speed lift on Casper, one of the easier intermediate ski parts of the mountain which I think you would enjoy.

From the Jackson Destination Experts

What other winter activities are there besides skiing?

If you aren't a downhill skier, there are other activities to enjoy in Jackson during the winter. Stroll around the shops and art galleries on the town square, visit one of several spas for some pampering, or check out some of these options:

The National Museum of Wildlife Art

A great art museum with a children's activity room and a nice lunch cafe. (This is NOT a natural history museum - no stuffed animals.) ... (more)

Sled Dog Tours

The original sled dog company operating in Jackson Hole hosted by an eight time Iditarod veteran. ... (more)

Snowmobile Tours

The snowmobile tour to Granite Hot Springs is highly recommended. ... (more)

National Elk Refuge sleigh ride

Take a horse-drawn sleigh ride among an elk herd numbering in the thousands. Available from mid-December through late March. ... (more)

Silver Dollar Bar

The historic Silver Dollar Bar at The Wort Hotel features live entertainment several nights a week with no cover (21+). ... (more)

Jackson Hole Mountain Resort

Besides downhill skiing, JHMR offers a number of other winter options: jacksonhole.com/activities-events/winter-act… ... (more)
