Lodging - Grand Teton Park, Jackson, or Teton Village????

We'll be in Jackson in mid-July for 3 nights. We'll be traveling with 2 children, ages 8 & 10. Our plans are to visit Grand Teton Nat'l Park, go horseback riding, and possibly mountain bike riding, and white water rafting. Is it more FUN to stay close to Town Center, in the Park, or at Teton Village. Is there anything to do or see in Teton Village in the evenings or is it just a cluster of condos with gondola access? What about staying in Grand Teton Nat'l Park - is there anything to do after dinner? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Also - any advise on specific hotels or lodges would also be appreciated. Thanks .

Our family (kids ages 9 & 12) stayed last August in Jackson. We found a 2 bedroom condo on vrbo.com for only $ 130.00 night including taxes--it was located in the Jackson Hole Raquet Club--so it was about a 10 minute drive to town. We took a Barker-Ewing white water trip which was one of highlights of our vacation. By the time we did our activites(rafting, hiking, etc) and had dinner, we were all too tired to do much at night. We stayed one night at Colter Bay Village on the way to Yellowstone. I was a little skeptical when we pulled up to the resort, but actually the cabin wasnt too bad at all. They did have evening ranger programs but we spent some time walking down by the lake. They also had internet access in the lobby.
