Timing on Upper Dells boat tours

Hi, I am planning to visit the Dells specifically for the Upper Dells boat tour. I am wondering if they have certain times that they take off or if it is just whenever they get enough people? The website doesn't list times, just every 30 to 40 mins.

And can we purchase the ticket there or should we get it ahead of time for a September Sunday afternoon?

based on the website I would call direct. It still says 2013 on there....I would think they would be open by Memorial Day weekend, or perhaps they forgot to update. The info. is limited there so I would definitely speak to someone there to find out the scoop. As far as September, kids are back in school so I would think you wouldn't need to bother buying ahead at that point.

After Labor Day business drops off dramatically. I don't think they wait all day to fill a boat, but start times are probably somewhat dependent on the crowd. Looking at the website I don't see that purchasing in advance you get a specific time or even day of departure. They do not appear to be timed tickets from what I can tell. If that's the case I don't see any advantage in buying advance tickets unless you can get a discount.

What is your concern about having a specific start time? There are shops around the boat docks and it is a scenic area, so you can peacefully pass some time waiting.

You can purchase tixs all over the place. I suggest sitting on the top deck of the boat weather permitting. The view is better. There are certain times the boats leave. But the wait isn't long. I think there is a free lot by the dock if that helps. The upper tour is so much better Greg

Thank you for the responses. My main concern is knowing what time the last tour leaves. We have a full day planned and this would be later in the day. I'd rather not miss it either because we show up too late or it has been sold out.

Thanks Gary for the info on parking and especially confirming my choice of upper !
