Need a couple of must-do's and must places to eat, HELP!

We are going to the Dells the 17th and 18th of June. Our son and girlfriend and daughter and boyfriend all in 20's. We don't have a lot of time, so we want to make the best of the time we have. Can you suggest a couple of must see/do things and a couple of great eateries. We are staying at the Great Wolf Lodge. Thank you so much. We haven't been to the Dells for many years. Our children were in grade school.

Hey Nancy - Here are a few must-do's: For food, The Cheese Factory and Paul Bunyan's can't be beat! Avoid Crabby's all you can eat seafood because the locals say the food is disgusting. If you like BBQ, everything they serve at Famous Daves is excellent, and for a low-key, inexpensive family style restaurant, try Family Chef. Twenty-somethings who are interested in driving FAST won't be disappointed in the go-carts at Extreme World and Mt. Olympus is by far the best theme park in the Dells. I would especially caution you to avoid Riverview on the 18th because a local radio station gave out dozens of free tickets for Father's Day and the place is sure to be PACKED! Also, we never went into Top Secret, but everyone we spoke to said it was not worth it - despite how cool it looks from the outside. See my GoList here on TripAdvisor for more detailed information. Have a great trip! - Shay

I would have suggested Noah's Ark, but since you are staying at a waterpark, you might not want to spend the money to go there. The 20-something's might like minigolf - I would recommend either Pirate's Cove or Timber Falls - if it is hot go to Timber Falls - lots of shade on the 3 courses by the river. Mt. Olympus is lots of fun, but again the day passes are expensive but you get lots to do - go carts, rollercoasters (one that goes underground), waterslides, a new indoor coaster and bumper boats, and the Bay of Dreams. It's a place to go all day although they do sell some individual ride tickets. If you like to golf, there are several great courses. To see the Dells and understand how the area got started as a tourist location, take the upper Dells boat tour. It's about 2 2-1/2 hours with two stops - one stop at Witches' Gultch which is really neat and the other is on the other side of the river to see the dog jump between the rock formations. You really get to hear a lot of the history of the area from the boat captain. If you don't have that much time, do the Ducks. You might get wet if you sit in the back, so keep the weather in mind. There is Mini Indy and racecar driving for those with actual driver's licenses at Riverview Park.

For food, Moose Jaw is a good place, good food and large selection. They also brew their own beer and it's very close to Great Wolf. River Walk Pub is down the street from Nigs (left at the first light after you cross the bridge downtown) and you can sit outside and eat and watch the tour boats, jet boats, etc. go up and down the river. Good food and they also have a beer garden if you would just like to get a beverage/snack and watch the river. Fun place on a warm evening to sit outside. Marley's is a good place to go for dinner and then stick around for dancing. If you just want a burger, Monk's is an institution downtown and you can tell when you are near when you smell the fried onions.

If you want any more info about these places, one website to go to is www.dells.com and click on the attraction button.

Have fun and let us know what you ended up doing.

Best Pizza in Dells; The Green Mill instead of turning to the right to go downtown to all the shops turn left maybe a mile on right side in a hotel good food. In the downtown area go to pub right side 3rd block you can smeel the food as you are passing think the name is O'brians or something like that. The Del-Bar used to have great steaks and such but last year the Fields Resturant right above the bridge was lots better. Mt Olimpus is a great HOT day activity you can go on the go carts the rollercosters and all the water slides and also the large indoor water park. Be careful at the black wolf on the water slides last year my orthopedic doctor slide right off the slides and was off work for 6 months hurt himself pretty bad.

Be sure to check out the Jet Boats! They are fun and you can cool off. Weather here will be humid I hear. Also, check out Port Vista for dinner. It is off of HWY A going to Baraboo. Take a right in front of the sign for the Aloha Inn. It is just down the road. I work for GWL so I can tell you you will have an awesome time in the waterparks. The restraunt inside has great food as well. Have fun! Talk to the front desk at the hotel, they sell discounted tickets to area attractions. You might even want to try the casino. They have a shuttle that will pick you up and bring you back.

If you are looking for a quick inexpensive lunch, Pizza Pub has a great all-you-can-eat buffet from 11 to 2 every day. Well-stocked salad bar, and always two amazing homemade soups. If you don't see a pizza you like, wait a few minutes, there's always a big variety.

I second the recommendation for the Pizza Pub. I think they have great pizza. I love that thin, almost crackery crust.
