Looking for quiet, good restaurant

We are six and meeting some cousins in Aug. for dinner. There will be a total of 8 for dinner. We would like someplace where the volume isn't too high and we can talk and linger over dinner and drinks.

You should probably give some indication of location. Will you be downtown or do you want to stay out of downtown to avoid parking and congestion?

Also, maybe some indication of budget. There are plenty of quiet places I can think of... but a lot of them are also pricey.

Note that if you plan dinner on a Friday night most every restaurant in Milwaukee serves a popular fish fry, so peace and quiet are very difficult to find.

A couple choices near the airport would be the Packing House or Di Carlos Italian. They are popular and can get crowded, but have quiet tables if you reserve in advance. A place downtown like the Mason Street Grill would also work for a quiet dinner. I'm sure there are many others, but I'm not thinking of any off the top of my head.

Sheridan House or Buckleys Kiskeam Inn.

I was thinking of Sheridan House too. I've only been there for brunch. I looked at the dinner menu online and it seems a little limited, but it would be a good choice if the menu works.

Eddie Martini's, our favorite Milwaukee Restaurant, and simply one of the best.

Not cheap, but tremendous quality. Easily an excellent conversation place.

Reservations advised.

Pricey but a nice quiet place with wonderful food, and great service is Sanfords. I would go there is I was looking for great food and willing to pay. reservations necessary. If your primary concern is relaxed atmosphere where you and your friends can connect without a lot of surrounding noise there are probably better choices.
