Boat Tours

My husband and I will be vacationing in Lake Geneva in June. Should we include a boat tour in our itinerary? I noticed there are many types of tours. Which one should we consider?

the mail tour is a unique one that has gotten raves nationally. I don't know much about the others. We keep trying to go on the mail boat tour but haven't yet. http://www.cruiselakegeneva.com/

here's the mail boat tour:

descriptions of other tours:

I hope these help you decide which one is best for you.

Thank you for your quick response. We will probably do this one, since it is so well known.

Would you be able to tell me what else we should make sure to see while we are there. We will be there an entire week.

The mail boat tour, the Blackpoint Tour, which is an old mansion, and several others are all narrated tours that are about 2 hours long. There are also dinner cruises and ice cream social cruises, which show you the same sites on the water, but combine it with food, which I think is fun. I was up in Lake Geneva over Memorial Day and noticed that they were offering new cocktail cruises this season on Thursday nights. Instead of a narrated tour, there is music and live entertainment, as well as drink specials for I think $25 per person. They also have senior tuesdays and give a 20% discount.

I all depends on what you are looking for. No matter what tour you take you will cruise the same lake and see the same sites. What may be of interest to you is that not all the boats for all the cruises are the same. Obviously, there is a special mail boat for that cruise. But there are also paddle wheels and a polaris yacht and other luxury boats.

You have obviously been to the website to know that there are many options. Here would be my recommendations:

- If you like to be active, choose the combination of hiking the lake shore and then cruise, or the Black Point Tour because you will have to climb 100 steps to visit the mansion.

-If the idea of dining or drinking suits you, well obviously choose the dinner or cocktail cruise. These boats are also air conditioned.

-And if you want to sit and see the sites and have a narrated history, just pick one of the regular tours.

Have fun!

I have a vacation home in the area, so here would be some of my suggestions:

Music by the Lake in Fontana www.musicbythelake.com Fontana is a short drive from Lake Geneva on the west end of the lake.

Visit the Elegant Farmer by trolley. http://www.easttroyrr.org/ The trolley offers short trips to this gourmet farm and deli www.elegantfarmer.com. The trolley also offers dinner trains.

Gus's Drive-In www.gussdrivein.com is a 50's style place, which has classic car night every Saturday night.

Dancing Horse Theater www.thedancinghorses.com A Las Vegas style show with horses. In the past, it had a dinner option.

http://www.lakegenevawi.com/ This is the Lake Geneva website, and it posts most area events and ongoing attractions.
