swimming/boating at Summersville Lake

Heading to the Summersville Lake area next week. Where is the best place to swim?

Also, any recommendations for a place to rent a boat?

I have not boated or swam in the lake in many years. But I do know there are several nice places for swimming. On the far side of the lake there is even a sandy beach area for swimming. Other places include "the point". But for there you do have to have a boat. For boat rentals. I don't know if they still do or not, but you used to be able to rent one at the docks. I would however call ahead. I know that they used to go fast and if you didn't reserve one, you were out of luck.

The same guy who owns Sarges Scuba also owns the marina at Summerville Lake.

Scroll down the web site for info on boat rentals. They have swimming and snorkle charters, take you to some nice places on the lake that can only be gotten to by boat.

There is a nice beach area around the dam. I am sure you will enjoy, cleanest lake water I've ever been in, good scuba diving if you are into that.
