Place to stay

Coming in August with another couple to do some whitewater rafting with River Adventures. Can anyone suggest a nice, clean hotel to stay in? Anywhere in the area would be fine....just don't want to sleep somewhere that is nasty! Thanks!

Never personally stayed at this place before, but have driven by and it looks great>http://www.countryriverinn.com/ I would say about 10 minutes from River Adventures. Did see there are nice reviews on this place here on Trip Advisor.

If you don't mind traveling maybe 30-40 minutes to Fayetteville, Hawks Nest might be a nice option because of the view>>http://www.hawksnestsp.com/

Have stayed at Hawks Nest before. The rooms can be on the small side and dated, but the lodge is unique. Best to eat elsewhere though even though there is a restaurant on site.

Always the Quality Inn in Fayetteville, right on Rt. 19. qualityinn.com/…

Have a great trip. Chris

There is a Holiday Inn....and Quality Inn in Oak Hill.

Also plenty of hotels off Interstate 77, Exit 44 in Beckley...15 minutes to the south.

Stayed at the Holdiday Inn in Beckley and found it to be perfect for us.

Was through the area yesterday.

Just below Fayetteville on the northbound side of RT 19 is a fairly new Comfort Inn.

Few miles south of there between Fayetteville and Oak Hill near Lochghelly Road is another nice Comfort Inn. On southbound side of RT 19.

North side of Oak Hill on Oyler Ave. Holiday Inn.

I saw others but didn't catch all the names.

These are all within 5-10 minutes of Fayettetville where most outfitters are located.

Are you sure of name of outfitter? Tried finding their address. Found Rivers Expeditions and WV Adventures.

Hello, we are visiting ACE Adventures in W. VA., would it be best to stay on their property at their cabin for $211 per night or stay off property? Thanks

All depends on whether or not you want to spend the money. You can find more economical places to spend the night for sure, but Ace does have nice cabins. You will have space to move around and there is plenty of outdoor oriented activities to do right at Ace. I've never been disappointed.

Just a few thoughts for your trip - this was my review of our trip with River Expeditions...

First impressions are everything and this place exceeds your expectations!

We were shocked to arrive at what seemed to be a brand new base camp! This place is immaculate - the campgrounds are clean, quiet and family-friendly - the shower house was spotless - let's just say, you feel like you are the first visitors!!! Our check-in was quick, the staff were super friendly and helpful. In less than 10 minutes of arrival, we were picking out where we wanted to set up our tent.

The rafting trips were well-organized and the guides were knowledgeable and entertaining. The gear was clean and DRY! You don't think this is a big deal until you've had to wear a cold, wet life jacket on a bus for 20 minutes at 8am!

If you are going for a family trip, I would recommend the Upper or Lower New River. If you are looking for high adventure, go in early spring or fall for the Gauley. And if you are lucky enough, you'll end up with Eric or Jake for your guides. Here's suggestion - pay extra for your own boat (6 ppl as opposed to 8) and request them!

The market has about 7 outfitters and I've gone with 2 of them. Overall, River Expeditions was by far the better bet!
