Good kid-friendly hotels within driving distance?

Are there good kid-friendly hotels within driving distance of Cass Train with pool or water-works perhaps?

Snowshoe is your best bet. Ski resort in the winter. Little bit of everything in the summer.

Thanks for the tip. Would you happen to know what is available for families at nearby Lakes (Deep creek or Tygart Lake)?

Your best bet is really Snowshoe Resort. It's less than a half hour drive from Cass. Lots of very nice condo and hotel-like options. Swimming pool, water activities, shops, resturants, ...it's a fun place, especially in the summer. Tygart Lake is about 2 hours away from Cass and has a nice small lodge. Elkins, WV is about one hour and 20 minutes from Cass and would have regular hotels if that's all you need. And be sure to stop by the Radio Observatory when you are in that area. I agree with Beachlady. Snowshoe would be a quicker and easier drive after a day on the train. Even if you just go half way up the mountain you'll still burn 4-5 hours at Cass.

Roads in and out of the area aren't made for fast travel especially if you're not familiar with the road or not experienced driving on winding roads.

Joked about this on another board. Someone asked why when we're asked "How far is it?" we answer with how long it takes. You might look at map and see it's 75 miles from Point A to Point B. You would think 75 miles would take little over an hour. Not in WV. Might be closer to two hours.

lol....pop is right. When I am asked how far is it?....I usually say, "well, as a crow flies its one hour, but to drive it...hour and a half". For example, Cass to Snowshoe...crow flies its 10 minutes. Drive it...22 minutes.
