Best swimming areas

We will be staying in Hedgesville next month and would love recommendations for the best places to go swimming... lakes, streams, etc., with clean water and nice surroundings. Beach not necessary.

1. Re: Best swimming areas

Was hoping someone from the area could answer your question - sorry, I cannot.

Only place I know of is Cacapon State Park.

"WATER SPORTS are not limited to soaking in the warm mineral springs. The lake at Cacapon State Park have paddle boats to rent. You can bring power boats to the Potomac River and Sleepy Creek Lake in the wildlife management area. Canoeing, kayaking and tubing are preferred sports on the Cacapon River. There are sand beaches and lake SWIMMING with lifeguards in season at Cacapon State Park. The public swimming pool in Berkeley Springs State Park is open daily from Memorial Day through Labor Day."

This site offers ideas for swimming holes in WV:

Then there is this info:

The ultimate vacation site is an individual farmhouse, rustic cabin, elegant cottage or log house in the woods, fully equipped for your family's comfort. Abundant in Morgan County, they have special features ranging from private swimming holes and whirlpool baths to nature tours and on-site hunting. http://www.berkeleysprings.com/family.htm
