Going to PT this weekend. Suggestions?

We live in Edmonds and are going to PT area on Friday and Saturday nights. We will take the ferry from Edmonds and drive to PT. We are staying at Chevy Chase Beach cabins, http://www.chevychasebeachcabins.com/ our first time there. We will catch an early boat to beat the traffic but can't check in until 3:00. What should we do in the meanwhile? We will have our dog with us and the weather is supposed to be nice so we can't leave her in the car.

Also, suggestions for breakfast/lunch near the cabins? We will grill our dinner but breakfast options are always nice.

Any thoughts on what we should do in the area, etc. We will have our dog's crate so we can leave her for a few hours after we check in, just not in the car.

I appreciate your help!

A great basic and obvious source of information are the PT tourism websites.

Lots to do there, a terrific getaway.

Also, Pala, a PT expert, listed lots of things to do there. Search on this site for that.

Go for a walk at Fort Worden. If you're there by 9 or 10am, you might be able to get the manager of the youth hostel there to take you on a guided tour (offer a donation, perhaps). He is a nice fellow and knows a lot. Bring your camera and maybe a flashlight.

There's not really anything out near Chevy. The Spruce Goose at the airport is maybe the closest. It's good diner food, and fun to watch the planes. There's also a museum at the airport.

For breakfast I recommend the Blue Moose in the Boat Haven. Nothing fancy, but it's the best breakfast in town. You can walk on the Larry Scott trail after w/ the pooch.

Definitely check out the NW Maritime Center Downtown. Too bad you can't make it over on Thursday for Concerts on the Dock, only two more this year. Farmer's Market uptown on Saturday. It was voted best Large Market in the state.

My tenant Laura works out at Chevy Chase Cabins. Let us know if you need more suggestions. What kind of activities are you looking for?

Enjoy PT,

chuck.

This weekend is also PT's annual Gallery Tour where many artists have their work sites open for the public. It is usually possible to meet and talk to them plus many have snacks, tea, cider and some even some wine. Several are out in the vicinity of Chevy Chase Cabins and in other rural areas (dogs can be fine though probably not out of the car) as well as in the town itself. For more information check the website: artporttownsend.org/2011-studio-tour

Pala has good ideas on food as well as the Farmers' Market on Saturday.
