Exploring Whidbey Aug. 10-15th!

My husband and I will be relocating to the island next summer (he is in the military) and we are taking an early trip to "scout" out the area. I've been researching hotels/b&bs but can't seem to find any hotel/b&b that gets consistently high marks. We are resort type peopel (huge pools, etc) but are aware this is not available on the island. We are looking for a really nice place to stay that is exceptionally clean (I have a major phobia about hotel rooms not being clean!). I have read about the Inn at Langley and the Woodland retreat B&B not sure if they are nice/clean. We have never stayed in a B&B so i'm not sure what to expect. I didn't see any hotels that looked nice- We need help!

Thank you for any suggestions you may have!

I'd recommend the Inn at Langley, we have stayed there and it is quite nice (and clean). But I am assuming that your husband will be stationed at Whidbey NAS and you know that Langley is on the south end of the Island, NAS on the north. It's roughly 35-40 miles from Langley to Oak Harbor. There are many B & Bs on the Island with fine reputations.

Another option would be to stay on the "mainland" in Anacortes (Majestic Inn) or La Conner (Channel Lodge). Again 25 minutes or so over the north end and Deception Pass to Oak Harbor.

Hi, we've stayed at the Inn at Langley as well as the Channel Lodge in La Conner - both were very clean, and nice. The Channel Lodge was cool, we were boating, and they have a dock, which is the main reason we first stayed there -- it was perfect, you can even walk to shops and restaurants. Langley town should take a clue & hurry up and fix up their old docks!http://www.tripadvisor.com/GoListDetail-i6553-Freeland_by_the_Harbor.html
