Issaquah,Washington

Thinking of making a base in Issaquah for a months holiday in June/July 2009. We are travelling fro Scotland U.K. and hope this is a good base for seeing the state.

Any Suggestions on what to do or indeed views.

Sorry to say, there is no ferry from Gig Harbor to anywhere. To get to Seattle, you would have to drive via Taooma or drive north to get a ferry from Southworth via Vashon Island, or Bremerton, or Bainbridge Island.

Here is the WA State Ferry website route map.

Having lived in Issaquah and now Gig Harbor - both beautiful areas - there is a vast difference in the two. Actually either is going to require much driving to get anywhere. If you have found a place to rent in GH then do they say you can walk to town? It is a rather spread out town and unless it is in the waterfront section walking to town won't be easy. The ferry is a nice way to travel, but not convenient to GH, though not difficult to get to. Half an hour drive north to get to the ferry dock and then an hour to cross into downtown Seattle from Bremerton.

GH would be closer to many things you mentined you wanted to explore. Issaquah would provide easier access to Seattle and the eastside in general.
