Curious, is this instead of Yellowstone or another trip?
This is another trip. Yellowstone in June,
Whistler in July. We have been to Vancouver many
times and are looking for somewhere inexpensive to spend the night. We don't plan to drive through downtown vancouver. We have stayed at the Holiday Inn in North Vancouver before, but the prices are a lot higher now.
Understood and agree about prices. The drive to Whistler is nice.
There is also the Best Western Lakeway Inn on Lakeway. It is right off the freeway and has a nice little bar / restaurant. There is also a nice pool and hot tub. IMO it is in a more interesting part of town - there is a good Mexican restaurant a short walk (three blocks) away - and a Chinese buffet across the street.
Do you happen to remember the name of the Mexican restaurant? Thanks
Sure, it is Sol de Mexico. Pretty typical Mexican fare, but yummy. The service (at least when we go) is very good. If you want to hop back in your car - you can zip up Sehome to Sehome Village and try Espinoza (also good Mexican - they have a really good salsa bar), Busara (excellent Thai) or Quarterback (bugers and brew and they have pool tables).
Thanks, I am still trying to figure out if folks have been happy at the HI express or the Hampton.
Hampton - they have a nice reception hall so this is a secondhand review - the wedding guests that were staying at the hotel really like their rooms. The drawback is the terrible location. It is really only handy if you want to go to the airport or the mall. For everything you have to get in your car.
Holiday Inn - no review of the room, but again location - the way the parking lot is situated on Meridian makes it a pain to get in and out of. If you do want to stay in the mall area - my folks have stayed at the Comfort Inn before (Lakeway was overbooked) and they liked it except for again, location. The parking lot has the benefit of being easy to get in and out of though.
Thanks for the info. We are planning to arrive early evening and leave early in the morning, so we're just looking for a quick on and off the freeway.
