Virginia beach hot spots

I've been reading the reviews for oceanfront accommodations, but many of them refer to specifice areas of the beach. What's the difference between the north end or the south end. Is there anything else you might say to describe the personalities of the sections of the beach? Thanks :)

1. Re: Virginia beach hot spots

North end is residential - just beyond the tourist zone which is serviced by the trolley (The Wave).

South end - same thing.

The tourist strip is mainly hotels/motels and a few resorts and condos along with the restaurants and shops. Obviously this part will be lively and everything will be easy to get to on foot or by The Wave.
