Lots of photos and videos being posted on the facebook group called "Hotel Colonial 2017", type it in and join to see, most of the pics so far of of Pullman...for a new hotel, I was expecting less damage :(

I feared as much. Very worried for the locals and how they will cope with no work.

Hurricane 'Irma' that hits the Caribbean has left devastated hotels in Cayo Coco, being Sol Cayo Coco, managed by the chain Meliá, one of the most affected, as well as having destroyed the bridge over the sea that links the Cayo to rest of Cuba, according to the exclusive information that the hotel operators of the area have shared with REPORTUR.com .

There is much damage to Cayo Coco and Cayo Guillermo.

The new Pullman was built to latest code and up on the hillside from the beach and still got whacked.

Have a look at a couple of videos shot today:

Sol Cayo Guillermo was my very first Cuban destination, and my favourite. Just breaks my heart.

And, Iberostar Playa Pilar was my most recent Cuban destination. Had a wonderful week there in April. Just heart wrenching. Feel so bad for all the staff and the guests who had such a great time there.

OK Cuba, on your feet, time to rebuild. Don't let the bastids get you down. We're on your side.
